Collaborating With Us
For those wanting to host a workshop, performance, or event in our tent
You already know what the tent is. Here is how to bring something to it.
Over the years the space has held daytime pizza parties, Japanese tea ceremonies, meditation sessions, ambient dub-techno nights, drum journeys, Arabian-nights-themed cuddle spaces, ecstatic dance sessions, live jams, full sound stages, craft workshops, scent-making circles, and a great many things that were never quite named. If you have something that wants to exist here — we want to hear about it.
What We Ask
Come to us early with your idea. We will figure out timing, setup, and what you need together. We are flexible and genuinely excited by what people bring to the space.
We ask that whatever you run leaves room — physically or energetically — for the tent to still breathe alongside it. Someone should be able to sit quietly with a cup of tea at the edges even while something is happening. We are a living space that shares itself, not a dedicated event venue.
If you are a camp member bringing in an external collaborator, you are the host. You facilitate, you handle logistics, and you make sure the collaboration serves the common dream of the camp, not just your own vision.
We generally steer away from sexually explicit programming — not out of judgment, but because that energy has many other homes at Borderland, and we want to remain a space where anyone can walk through the door without expectation.
The Spirit of It
If you bring your workshop or performance to our tent, you become part of Tea by the Sea for those hours. We hope you will stay for tea after. Co-creation is one of our oldest values — the tent has always been built as much by the people who pass through it as by the people who set it up.
