Year by Year

What started as a tent and a few things borrowed from home has grown — through years of thrifting, gifting, and community generosity — into a warm space filled with carpets, lights, and love. The sea may not be as close as it once was, but the view remains, and so does the feeling. Here is the story, year by year.

2025

Vessels: The Telepathic Teahouse at the End of the Galaxy

We relocated to the Lookout. Ambient listening sessions with Nils Frahm and Future Sound of London. Tea by the Night with chai and violin. A live concert by Shai Peri. A first aid workshop. And Laura gave us handmade ceramic cups from Japan.

2024

Massage, Rainbows and Yarn

The third year on the hills. A yarn-spinning workshop, a smell workshop, a nocturnal massage station, and a tea serving session. The sky was spectacular — astonishing cloud formations and plenty of rainbows. But the noise planted a seed.

2023

Platform of Emptiness

We returned to the hills and John built the Platform of Emptiness — solid, sturdy, and nothing like 2019. On the Wednesday we crossed the lake for the Sunlit Owl Daytime Party, on the Thursday we hosted Arabian Nights with chai, and on the Friday morning Or Granot played a live oboe set in the early light.

2022

Nothing Hill

Back at Borderland, now on the land we had helped buy. We set up on the hills above the lake and joined forces with a group of party organisers from Stockholm. A scaffolding stage went up on the hillside. We called it Nothing Hill.

2020-2021

The COVID Years

Borderland did not happen. We gathered in other ways — mostly out in the archipelago, brewing tea by the actual sea. In 2021, we also contributed to something that would change where we go forever.

2019

The Platform That Fell

We were ambitious. The plan was a lighthouse — a beacon you could navigate Borderland by. On the Tuesday evening we opened the platform with a live pianist and a violinist. Around fifty people gathered. Then the platform collapsed.

2018

The Platform and the Blood Moon

This year we built our first platform — a small, beautiful structure that became a tea house by day and something stranger by night. Above it we hung a disco ball. Then came the blood moon.

2017

The Beginning

We came to a ridge above the Baltic Sea with a simple intention — brew some tea. The tent filled with strangers sheltering from the rain, and seeing it packed warmed us more than the stove did.
